I survived Vis. Comm. boot camp!!!  Holy hell, I never thought this day would come.  Overall, it's been a rough semester.  Most of the time I wanted to ring Rusty's neck but I must admit that I learned a lot.  And I can say that I am a better designer for it.  As far as my time is concerned, I was under budget the first half of the semester and right on budget for the second half of the semester.  I think I just finally realized how much work goes into making something decent.  And I know that I am not perfect, by any means, but I do think that I have improved...which is all I could really hope for.  Glad the semester is over and summer is finally here so I don't have to see Rusty's little red pen for a long long time!!!!  And for my final Vis. Comm. II post, I will leave you with an image of the beautiful Justin Bieber (just because!!!!)!!!!

I actually liked this assignment a lot.  I was super proud of myself for creating an illustration that wasn't completely hideous.  Took a little longer to get the other side approved because I didn't really understand how the space worked with the folding and all.  But I eventually got it and I think it looks pretty damn good!

I ended up doing some graphic typography on this poster and I LOVE how simple but effective it looks.  Just goes to show that you don't need a fancy graphic to make an impact.

I also really liked this assignment.  I loved doing book covers in high school and still like doing it now.  1984 is one of my favorite books, so I actually had interest in the subject that we were designing for!  I achieved exactly what I wanted to, especially with the photography.

Gonna Start Early

It has been super hard to be motivated this past week and a half.  And it doesn't help that all of my professors have started assigning their final projects and such, so I feel pretty overwhelmed, but that is the name of the game I guess.  So in order to try and cut down on my stress levels, my next posts are gonna start my final portfolio.  Wish me luck and here goes nothing!

Chuggin along

So I haven't blogged in a while.....Easter weekend was absolutely useless, I didn't get anything done.  But I made a list of all of the stuff I still need to do and broke down into "Stuff that still needs approval," "Stuff I need to print," and "Other things I need to do before this final."  All in all, it doesn't look too bad, it's just A LOT of little, annoying things.  I'm super close to having approval on almost everything except my beverage stuff.  Hopefully I can get a good start to that this week.

So I really have no flippin idea how to illustrate something.  I feel like since I haven't had illustration yet, I am clueless!  But I attempted to do something for the Society of Illustrators, and it's.......a work in progress. I feel so lost.
